Noise FAQs

Barking dogs.

Persistent dog barking that is disturbing to neighbors is considered a violation regardless of the time of day. For complaints after 3 p.m. on weekdays or on weekends, call the Police Department non-emergency at 623-932-1220.

Construction and landscaping start/stop times.

Concrete. From April 15 to October 15, concrete may be poured between the hours of 5a.m. and 7p.m. or at such times as authorized by permit. From October 16 to April 14, concrete may be poured between the hours of 6a.m. to 7p.m. or at such times as authorized by permit.

All other construction. From April 15 to October 15, construction, landscaping, or repair work shall not begin prior to 6a.m. and must stop by 7p.m. within 500 feet of a residential zoning district or at such times as authorized by permit. From October 16 to April 14, all other construction, landscaping, or repair work shall not begin prior to 7a.m. and must stop by 7p.m. within 500 feet of a residential zoning district or at such times as authorized by permit.

Commercial and industrial zoning districts.  Construction and repair work in commercial and industrial zoning districts not within 500 feet of a residential zoning district may be conducted at any time of the day. 

Home-based businesses.

Home-based businesses are not allowed to generate noise that is disruptive to neighbors. Click here to submit a request for service.

Traffic noise.

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Noise Team works to reduce traffic noise impacts on communities, particularly for federal projects, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
